Bought a used Paslode Impulse finish nailer some time ago. This person used it to trim his house, new const. I bought it to trim one that I was building. Then I loaned it out to someone to trim their house. When the gun was returned it wouldn’t work. Go figure. We all learn the hard way………. At any rate I want to replace the gun, is there a better product that ya’ll have used that will last? I have noticed since the days when the Impulse first came out there are a lot more manufactures that carry the gas driven guns.

After a little reading back at a previous thread I noticed it said something about cleaning periodically the paslode guns. What do you have to clean on the gun? The gun I have doesn't have any paper work with it. Maybe this is why the gun isn't working? Batteries are charged and gas is plentiful. Gun is dead.

It is pretty simple, I am sure any Jarhead that could clean a weapon could do it (:-).
Get the instructions here my friend.

Just could not pass up the opportunity. Almost went in to the Navy instead but decided to fly helicopters.
FWIW some folks say that carb cleaner works as well as the paslode spray. Unless you are a high volume user I would think a can of the right stuff would last a pretty good time. There is not too much in the way of rubber or whatever seals in there to hurt in my opinion. I would think brake cleaner would be better on parts but carb is more like the environment you are cleaning.
I did get the proper oil to use on reassembly. I have had no problems. Make sure your gas is fairly current, they do have expiration dates. Also sometimes folks forget to push the 90 deg cap down on the gas cart. I open the gas latch and take out the battery when finished. Mine are the framers but they are basically the same just bigger.
I have a young nephew wearing your style uniform over in the desert. Bless his heart and keep him safe!

Bob-
Your nephew has style...... :-)
I spent eight years active in the Corps. Joined the Coast Guard reserve couple years ago to try and get some more time. Had a total of 12 yrs. Three months later they sent me to the Gulf 03'-04'. Go figure. Had fun for years in the sand then the coasties send me for some more...... Subsequently when I returned I put myself into IRR until the end of my contract. I was a crew member on KC-130's in the Corps. Had a couple of buddies cross the tracks to your field from being Marine NCO's to Army Warrants and flying those rattle traps....... :-)
From the heart, good luck and god speed on your nephew's safe return.

Thanks!
I gave some consideration to interservice transfer to Coast Guard. It was after my first RVN tour and the CG was getting ready to patrol the 200 mi limit with Falcon Jets. I had just taken a direct to 1st Lt and would have had to back down one. Probably would have been not too bad a decision.
Coasties are probably one of the most underappreciated and hardest working services.

I believe that also, they saved a few marines arses over the years. The hardest part for me is the military discipline. They were IMHO civilians in a uniform with a specialized training. I am not taking anything from them mind you, just a large adjustment, as I am sure you would understand. I had seen stuff said and or done that I would have been raked over the coals. Or simple things like calling an officer or an E-9 by their first name. But, I was surprised of the extent of the mission the Coast Guard is given and the extent that the mission was completed professionally. Something else surprised me, as a republican, I was a minority. I found this unusual in the "normal military".

Yes, more like the Air Force and ANG in my opinion. (:-) I guess that is to be expected when you have smaller units like you would on their boats and plane crews. It really gripes me when they have to go into the breach because somebody does something stupid in the face of bad weather.
