I’m looking for a Cordless Combo Kit, instead of buying Best of Breed in each tool, to supplement the corded power tools that I have. At this point, I don’t think that they will replace anything, but I can see times when they’d be handy to have around. I’ve been using Dewalt cordless tools on the job site, but I plan to purchase my own.
Who do you think makes the best combo kits?
Everybody seems to sell the DeWalt DC4KITA 18-Volt, 4 Tool Cordless Combo Kit
for around $499, and other DeWalt 18-Volt, Cordless Combo Kits for a bit more.
The Bosch 93618DCRF 18-Volt Brute Tough Drill/Driver/Circular Saw/ Reciprocating Saw/Flashlight with 2 Batteries is a bit cheaper, and Bosch makes good tools.
I don’t know much about Hitachi, but my Makita tools (not cordless) work fine! Their Makita DK1052DL 18-Volt 2.6Ah NiMH MFORCE 4-Piece Cordless Combo Kit
is also a bit cheaper than DeWalt.
The same with the Milwaukee 0912-29 18 Volt 1/2″ Lok-Tor Hammer-Drill, Sawzall, Circular Saw & Worklight Combo Kit.
Panasonic batteries are supposed to be terrific, but I don’t see many tools that use them, at least on Amazon.
Porter-Cable is last, alphabetically, and also because I’ve never used any of their tools. How I managed it, I don’t know.

I've got the Bosch 24volt platinum series set at work. Pretty sweet. Saw, drill, flashlight, and sawzall. They hold up really well and I haven't had a bit of trouble out of them. I don't know what the cost is I found the case full laying around and asked if I can carry it on my truck, the boss said sure. So bam there it is.

i started with the pc combo pak. the saw is really well balanced, feels good to use but batteries did not last long enough. i tried the mil set next. my supplier took the pc on trade. the mil was no better, and did not have the feel of the pc. so i got the bosch 24 volt set. use it every day. cant imagine the site with out it. my supplier says the bosch folks tell him that the new generation 18 volt tools have the power of the old 24 volt tools. cant vouch for it. but makes me real interested in the planer and jig saw. good luck. paul.
I recently bought the bosch kit, my only complaint, and it's a small one, is the weight of the drill, it's a heavy sucker.
I've used the dewalt stuff before, so-so, I like the Bosch much more. No experience with milwaukee or the portercable.
If you buy it from amazon you can get 50 bucks off the cost, and you also get a cordless jig saw, the bag that the kit comes in is great IMO. Bosch was also running a rebate, not sure if it's still going, where you can get a free accessory by mail after purchase, either a 6pc hole saw kit, a kit of a bunch of different blades, or an extra battery, which is the one I choose.
so for about 450 bucks you get everything you mentioned in the kit, plus a jig saw and an extra battery, or other accessory of your choise.
Yea man beat me up cause you got that extra 25$ off.
It is a great setup plus I was looking at the batteries and I wouldn't be suprised if bosch was getting them from Panosonic? I'm not sure but they show that they are made in Japan. Does anybody Know?
It's been said that Panasonic makes batteries for something like eighty percent of the cordless tools out there.Who Dares Wins.
