I use a plate that attatches to the bar of a chain saw that is being made by Big Foot Saw Adapters, (702) 565-9954. I use it primarily to make crosscut, rip and compound angle cuts in Structural Insulated Panels, the ones with framing members within which makes the cutting issue harder.
The last few years I have used a Skil Saw conversion by Muskegon which worked OK but was gutless and tended to deflect if at all dull and not run true to the desired angle especially after cutting through the encapsulated 2×8 on a compound angle. Now with a 4 horsepower gas chain saw and a beefier bar and chain these cuts are fast and accurate.
If attention is paid to the direction the chain enters the finish side it provides a very nice looking cut. I install mostly roof systems with a panel that has a Pine T&G inner face and it does a good job with them.
I would imagine that anyone dealing with oversize wood and gangcutting would be able to make good use of this tool. Check it out!
