(not a DIY issue)
am pricing for pest contract on the house i have been working on. before we move in i want to start fresh with a complete package to treat for termites, roaches, silverfish, book lice, clothing moths, etc etc etc. (also rodents).
i was surprised at the first estimate today from a major company the first treatment is $105, then there’s monthly maintenance treatments of $35. that’s the contract; no choice to do less frequent treatments.
i understand that they can’t guarantee their work if you don’t follow their schedule.
and i understand and appreciate the changes in chemicals and safety regulations, for environment and health reasons.
but is there a safe alternative to monthly maintenance? i was expectimg quarterly visits from the pest folks, at most.

I live in TX so there is a problem with roaches, scorpions, and other assorted pests.
I pay $40 a month for treatment, I don't have a problem with any pests and I have it treated monthly for that reason.

35 , 40 dollar a month really cheap if you consider, labor, price of fuel, chemical, truck, insurance.
are the prices yuo're stating covering yermiters and rodents?
doesn't sound right to cover those

you are right brownbagg- i agree it's reasonable for what you get monthly, but i just wasn't expecting to have to get monthly treatments-- i was hoping for something quarterly at about that price per visit.he did say it included baiting for rodents.the guy we have doing the house we've been living in for about 8 yrs is the dad of one of my husband's old students. he's an independant small business. he does a major spray once a year and after that, 2 smaller maintenance visits. in between, we "call if we see something".
LOL- i know that means that lots more unseen pests have been multipying before we see anything, and that's why i am considering switching services for the new house. i was just hoping to be able to split the difference-
