is the cost of asphalt roof shingles “down” right now?
Gas is 2.50 a gallon. when gas went up 2 years ago did the shingles go up with it?
thanks

IIRC, shingle prices did spike about when gas prices did, though I haven't seen anything about shingle prices recently. Probably tracks more closely to the cost of asphalt, though, and I do know that if you needed something asphalted the past year or so has been a good time to do it, if you have the cash.
Bought 3 tab architectural 4 years ago for $35 sq, and roll roofing for $12 sq.
A year later when oil prices peaked, the 3 tab went to close to $90 sq and roll roofing to $40 a square.
Prices have not come down since then that I've seen here in PNW.
In fact, about anything I buy has gone up in price way more than the reported inflation rate.
