Costs of Siding Project in Philadelphia Suburbs

My home has atsbestos siding that I sought to replace with Certainteed Monogram Siding. Two quotes I got came out very close, one quoted for 1900 sq ft of siding and about $19K for the job. It is a two story house about 1990 sq ft.
Seems very high to me, so for starters I measured off the long sides of all house siding and figured about 10 ft high each story for height of siding sections. Totalling each component, I only get 1720 sq ft of siding and about 173 sq ft of soffit material.
I’m wondering what reaction this forum has to this information. Can you make any sense of these two quotes?
I’ve seen typical area quotes of around $5K for siding jobs. Am I missing something here?

Do note that dealing (properly) with asbestos in the old material adds significant costs.
$19k seems pretty high but $5k seems low. I don't know anything about Philly or construction costs but would assume them to be higher than south Florida where I am. But, you didn't give us many details.
Is the old siding to be removed?
What about window, door and corner trim?
Paint?
I thought I mentioned siding replacement. Yes, old siding removal and disposal.
There's no painting, yes window trim was included in quotes.
Also, no mention about asbestos "extra" charge in quotes.
In my area the old asbestos siding only has to be bagged and then thrown out with the regular trash.
On a vinyl siding job the most importandpart of the work is the detailing under the vinyl as vinyl siding is not waterproof . It's critical that the Tyvek joints are all taped, corners wrapped and all windows flashed properly with flashing tape which has been properly applied to the Tyvek. Any siding company can install the siding and make it look good but only a responsible contractor will do the details right. A bad job will take years to be evident so I'd want to go by jobs in progress to make sure the details were done correctly.
I know you didn't ask but I will say that I wouldn't install vinyl on my own house if the product were free. We do lots of vinyl repair and replacement. I haven't had a customer ask for vinyl in 20 years. You could have Hardilap and PVC trim installed for about the same price.
Does 19K include the rakes and soffits? Is there a water table? Does this include metal flashing at doors and windows? Are you applying an air vapor barrier? What material are you using for window trim?
I dont think $19k is offensive, but a lot depends on the open questions. FYI asbestos shingle disposal is not a big deal in certain areas as the % of asbestos is likely very low and it can be thrown out in a regular dumpster is most jurisdictions but some areas will call for a proper abatement- this is a huge variable in cost.
Not sure what rakes are, but does include soffits.
Not sure if window work would be vinyl or metal or which is better.
Will look into air vapor barrier, but maybe you're referring to the Tyvek? I believe that is what they wrap with before siding.
Water table? In a valley, but not a flood zone.
Smitch,
Google the terms you are not familiar with. A water table is an arhcitectural feature it doesnt refer to actual water. A rake is a type of trim board. Tyvek is not the same as an air vapor barrier there are many more (and much better) products available.
Do more research! But I dont think that $19k is way off base. At least not in the NY/NJ/CT area...
