People around here refur to them as a pony wall. Not sure if that right definetion. It’s a wall about four foot tall usually with a counter/bar attach to top. Like the counter behind the stove in a kitcern great room.
Question: How do you fastern the conter to the wall. The overhang is what worry me.

Depending on the amount of overhang, the material of the counter, and the purpose of the counter, most likely you are looking at some sort of brackets.

As Tom menetioned, more information on size and usage is needed.
For small equal overhangs I drill pilot hole at 45 degrees from below through the wall plate and glue and screw the top down. The apron trim hides the screw heads. larger unequal overhang tops I try to install before the dw is hung. I let in 3/4x3/4 angle iron braces in the top and attach them to the studs. That works to about 1' overhang. Larger overhangs (18") get some sort of bracket either designed into the top or to match the trim of the home.

If a lam counter, build with a built up edge, but only 3/4 material under most of it (1-1/2 edge, 3/4 thick for the rest). Size another pc of 3/4 that'll fill in that hollow area. Screw that down to the wall. Set the top on that and screw up from the bottom into the lam top.
