How do you cut laminate counter tops, the back splash is 4 1/4″ high, what about chipping the laminite?

have the fabricator make it the right size.
*Hi Markm123,If it's not installed, you can cut it with a finishing carbide blade on a skill saw using a guide by cutting it face down.If it's installed and you want to do an end cut, you can do it with a good jigsaw with a reverse tooth blade to minimize chipping.Either way, it's a risky process. sorry I can't help any more than thisGabe
*ditto Gabe. If cutting face up it helps minimize chipping if you place a layer of duct tape down the center of the cut line...
*Ditto Gabe and Doug, but in addition to their method I usually make my cut slightly off the line, then go back with a belt sander and sand to the line. This especially holds true when you get to the backsplash.
*The methods mentioned above are correct. When I worked at Home Depot, I was in kitchen & bath. The sales rep from their laminate vendor (I think it was VT Industries) reccomended exactly what Gabe said.Sean
