ok…im refinishing 3 different types of floors. 1) 50-70 yr old heart pine 2) fairly new oak 3) new yellow pine with a ton of red in it.
my question: i have some cracks. im wondering when to fill these cracks in….at what stage? after the first coat of polly..? 2nd? etc.
ive been told to save the lowest grit wood dustings from each wood, mix the wood dust with some poly to make a good crack filler that will match floor. with this method in mind im not sure when to fill the cracks.
if theres a better way, id love to learn of it.
thanks

How big are the cracks (length and width of the crack)? And are they cracks or "checks"?
A Crack will be a longer 'split look"... and Checks will be a series of small openings in the wood that appear to follow a singular line... but really are many small opening in a line with each other.
