Craftsman pressure washer lunacy

I bought a Craftsman pressure washer a few years ago and have used it maybe half a dozen times. Today the siphon hose starts spewing water instead of picking up bleach. I call the 800 customer service line and the guy tells me you aren’t supposed to run bleach through the siphon tube, only approved detergents. The check valve inside disintegrates upon contact with bleach. I told him he was nuts.
Have I missed something here?

Bleach is hard on seals. Prolonged use will deteriorate them.
I've been thru several sprayers, including the old air compressor driven ones. They all say "don't use bleach".
I'm shocked, you actually found someone at Sears that knew what they we're talking about?!!!
