I have installed crown molding for a contractor before but have never ran into this problem. how do you cut crown molding to fit on a vaulted ceiling? I have never run it in this manner and would appreciate any advice I can get.

Respectfully, check the archives for crown, rake and eave crown and any other pertinent title. The formulas and explanations are there in abundance.
The short answer is that unless you have two diff dimension crowns with the same profile you'll have to hack and wack to get it up there. Whitling, sanding etc might make it look good. Pcs parts to turn the corner might work. A block at that joint to die into might do.
If you thought this was long without giving you the answer, wait till you check the archives. Best of luck.
