hello all,
I’m finishing up the crown on a kitchen and would love to hear your thoughts on making the transition from a pre-finished (painted) cabinet crown, to a slightly different profile (also painted ) crown that runs everywhere else. my thought is some kind of a block to make the change. i dont want it to stick out and draw the eye. love to hear any suggestions, and thanks.

Jay,
I've done this a couple of times and in each case the size difference, profile (and color) have looked good with the small coped into the large. A block or some other sensible "stop" I'm sure would do the same. Take some scrap and hold it up there. You (or the homowner) make the decision.

Scribe with compass to transfer profiles and then cope. Kind of sucks, but with trial and error and a wee bit of caulking, you should succeed. The corner blocks (maybe with a pendant) are a good idea to, but sometimes the cab guys run their sh1t straight to the wall and you cant do that without tearing theres off and cutting it shorter.
I've coped painted profiles to stained profiles many times. Never like doing it but sometimes have to.
