Carbide blade on the skill saw or miter saw will work. I would just use a jigsaw and cut the end that wont show.
What kind of blade do I use in the jig saw the cut has a slight radius. I have a Bosch jig saw.
Ive used both fine and coarse wood cutting blades for this. The fine makes a little better cut but the corners are usually caulked so a little chipping is ok. Its not really hard to cut. Id cut from the back side so the saw base doesnt scratch it.
Make up that radius with a bench secured belt sander, back bevel the splash too while you're at it for a tight fit on the counter.
