Does anyone have any ideas for bending 6″ crown molding around a 3′ radius inside curve? Working in a couple of extra dimensions, the baseboard isn’t a problem but the crown could be tricky. Thought of steaming, but not sure if that would really work. Cutting up the back doesn’t look like it will work either. Possibility of maybe doing a plaster crown around the curve to match the wood (it’s to be painted), probably the easiest solution…. any thoughts out there?

Ross-check page 103 of March 99 FHB. Steaming or cutting the back wil not work. If you can go the plaster route that might be the easiest. For my skills, the carpentry would be the easiest.
*Hi Ross,If it's going to be painted anyways, make it out of MDF.Get a sheet of 3/4 MDF and cut out curved strips, stack em and glue em, then shape em to the profile of your crown mouldings.MDF has no grain, shapes perfectly and takes paint.Gabe
