Greetings, I’ve been asked to build a small gabled roof over an entry. The door is beneath the eave of a metal roof. The folks suffer from wet entry and risk of snow/ice dropping on them. The roof is small, and supported by curved brackets. They are spec’d as fir 4x [cut from 4x12s]. I like the look but don’t know anything about strength required, etc. Ted Bensons book show photos of curved/carved knee braces but no specifics given. Can anybody point me at some recommendations for fabrication. thanks, M. Quigley
