I am looking for a source for custom fireplace doors. The fireplace has openings on two sides and the homeowner would like some glass doors to make the fireplace operable. The openings are rectangular and just happen to be an irregular size. I assume that there must a source for buying them somewhere.

Most local welding shops could make a set - I made a set once. Fireglass (really ceramic) is expensive, but many fireplace doors use regular glass.
Like Brian, I made a set of glass doors to our last fireplace. Used standard 1/4" glass and some off-the-shelf pivot hinges. Worked very well.PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!

First Class, whatever you want type. Copper plated, chrome, nickel, brass, bronze, whatever. Whatever size and shape. Glass options too!
I've bought 4 units from them and sent numerous friends their way. They have a nationwide system of dealers, or will do yours directly. Make a nice template of exactly what you want. About 6 to 10 weeks, last I heard.
