I’m tiling my tub walls with a bright blue engineered quartz tile and can’t find an unsanded grout in a color that even comes close. Could I use a universal or other tint to get to the color I need? I’m concerned about whether this might affect the performance of the grout. Does anyone have experience with this?

Seems like somebody posted a company that will make a custom grout not long ago...maybe somebody will see this.

Does the Twilight Blue color below do it?

I think TEC makes custom grout colors but I've never used them.

I need a much deeper color. And I can't see ordering it custom, since were only talking about 1/16" grout lines over 60 sf. I doubt I could afford it.

You can absolutely use a pigment to get what you want. I have done it. Just remember, a little goes a long way and the color it shows wet is not the same as it is dried. Test.
Thanks, Jer. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I think what you want is stucco pigment - Comes in many colors. Definitely has to be inorganic pigment to work in grout or other cement products.
Bruce,
I haven't heard of stucco pigments before. Where might I get them?

it's best to find grout when/before you buy the tiles,
I'm interested in DIY pigmenting, though. for an intense color, you'd best start with white or very light grout
Pigmenting colors other than white works well too. I've done it with some success. It for sure isn't easy what with measuring everything out and waiting for it to dry to see what you've got.
You should be able to safely mix different colored grouts from the same family.
