I have a HVAC friend(don’t hold it against me) who has asked how can he cut existing baseboard to install a register on a remodel, with out removing the baseboard.
I told him that I will ask the All Knowing gang on Breaktime.
Thanks

Fein triangle sander fitted with the optional saw blade makes a perfect cut.Use the semented blade to cut right into a corner without hitting the wall or floor. Brian

HVAC guys I know would just kick w/ a steel toe and touch up with a 12" sawzall blade w/ two or three teeth.

Never tried the Fein tool, but Zip bits make a wood cutting bit that works in any die grinder and doesn't do a bad job. Be sure to wear safety glasses though.

Carl,
Shoot a piece of scrap to the baseboard, plumb, on the cut line. Hold a long sawzall blade next to it and sandwich the blade between it and another piece of scrap and shoot the second piece on. Then sawzall out the base, and pull off the scraps.
