I am building a boat dock with an L shaped roof.
How can I easily lay out the valley cuts. It is a
truss hip roof, each panel will be about 11′ long. I am using a 26 gauge “machine shed” type steel, not standing seam. The supplier makes a W valley flashing to use under the steel, but nothing to cover the top side, so the cut edge will show and I’d like it to be straight not look like it was cut in sections! Any hints on blades?
Thanks,
Bob

I have been using a Panasonic cordless steel cutting circular saw. It is surprising how straight the edges come out. Deburr with a hand file (the one on my gerber tool works great) and touch up the edge with paint.
Admittedly - I am a serious ameteur - a pro might have a better answer.

*Bob,I'm not sure on the profiles you guys use over ther but we cut all our roofs with Wis aviation type snips ( the ones with the offset are the best ) and NEVER a blade or abrasive cutter due to the filings that will cause rust.
*Cut with color side down and the filings never hit the paint to cause rust.Aviation snips accross a bevel cut on a 48" panel!! I would quickly lose patience for this.-Rob
*Rob. . . not to mention loss of blood from multiple small lacerations to fingers and wrist. . . been there, did that, swore and bled, and used a circular saw next time.-pm
