Just got the call from the family that owns the estate formerly owned by the Davidsons (of The Harley-Davidsons) and they have a couple shower pans that are shot. Normally not a big problem, except this time the wall is covered in Corian. I am planning to put Kerdi over the tile floor and need to go up the walls about 4″+, so the only way I can see to do it is to cut the Corian, run the Kerdi up the wall and behind any moisture barrier, fill in the thickness of the Corian, and put something like a cove- base tile over the bottom. Any thoughts?
The problem is cutting the Corian. I’ve never done it, especially already on a wall. I can foresee some type of guide for a wet/dry saw to glide over, but that doesn’t get the corners. Rotozip? Grinder with diamond blade? I’ll take any suggestions.

i believe i heard you can cut corian with a regular skillsaw just as you would any sheet goods, you just want to use a many tooth sharp blade for a chip free cut.
i would imagine the rotozip for the corners should be fine. i was looking into a request to use corian for a shower surround and these were the answers i got, supposedly very easy to work with, no special tools required. you can even chuck up a regular rounding over bit in the router for the edges, then just fine sand for finish.
i also believe thickness for wall mounted solid surface is 1/2 inch, so i would start just shy of that depth for a plunge cut and see.
Hot glue straight edges to the Corian and cut with a laminate router and 1/4" bit.
Finish corner cuts with a Fein if you have one available.
Is the Corain seamed at the corners and pan or just caulked.
if it is caulked then I would pry the Corain off the walls. Need to redo the walls and scrap the back of the Corain, but then you an reinstall it.
It looks to be clear siliconed.
You may want a copy of the booklet "How to work with Corian in the Home Workshop". It has some tips on cutting Corian including not to use fine tooth tools. Just visit http://stonewood.safeshopper.com
I hope this helps
