Cutting out vinyle siding to start a wall
I’m screening in my deck. I think the frame should be mounted to the house wall instead of butting up tight to the vinyle siding. Do I have to remove the siding to cut the space out to fit a 2×4 and some J-Channel or can I cut out the section with the siding still on the wall?
Anyone done this before?

Yes
you can cut siding in place-
Plywood blade turned backwards and be careful and straight!
or of course if you have a bunch of time-you can cut it with a very sharp utility knife.
NO sawzall.
But, to do it properly and to further take care of waterproofing/flashing that new corner-remove, cut and replace.
Use a board on top of the siding to provide a smooth guide for the saw, so you can control the depts of cut. (Don't cut into the sheathing.)
Could probably use a MultiMaster, though it would be a little slow. Would be good for finishing up the ends of the cuts, at least.
You may have to pry some of the pieces loose anyway, for flashing, et al. Consider your flashing carefully.

My go to tool for this application is a mini grinder with a diamond blade. Makes an unbelievable clean cut and is very easy to control. Always have a couple in the truck for doing ceramics anyway.
