I am installing a gas fireplace that is going to vent horizontally through an existing exterior wall which is stucco.
I have very little experience with stucco and was wondering if anyone has any advice for cutting it (type of blades, precautions,etc..) Thanks!

I have cut stucco using a circular saw and a abrasive cutoff blade. The blade will cut through the stucco and the wire used to hold stucco to the building. Also have an old chisel and a good dust mask handy. And be sure that all of the wire is cut otherwise it might pull off more than you want.
*Ed, I have cut round holes thru stucco for clothes dryer vent pipes. Get a good hammer drill, and a 1/2" or so percussion bit. drill the holes as close together as you can get. Use a mason's chisel to crack and chip the stucco off. Trim the wire lath with dikes or snips. Them a recip saw and a beat-up blade to go thru the sheathing (if it's an old--preWWII--house). Ja, this is tedious approach, but you can open a hole just the size you want and just caulk up around the vent pipe. Use a circ saw, and you'll be spending your time patching the stucco.
*Thanks M and Cap. I completed my job on Saturday using my skill saw and an abrasive (masonry) blade. It worked like a dream and the customer was happier than a pig in......
