I have to cut a cabinet down in order to make it shallower. I can run a circ. saw around the perimiter, but what about the fixed shelf inside? Any suggestions for a quick job that will not splinter and chip up the shelf, while still leaving a nice straight edge to re-attach the back panel to? The cabinet (and shelf) is all oak veneer 3/4″ plywood. At this point, I’m pretty much leaning towards using the circular saw as far as i can go and finishing the cut with either a hand saw or a jigsaw with a metal blade. What do you guys think?

Mark,
Think circ saw/jig saw/hand saw in that order, lose the metal blade thought.
Cabinet installers do this all the time
I once cut a cabinet down using the table saw. Nice straight edges. It was a little awkward but it worked.
I've also done what Otto did. If you have a table saw use it then use your jigsaw for the shelves. I've also done the circular saw and jig saw combo as well...Its just not as precise but if your burying the rear of the carcass between other cabinets then who cares how precise it is. Its buried.
