Only when I backpage AFTER answering a poster.
Which is to be expected, otherwise all's well.

*Yeah, that suddenly started happening just this week. Whenever I try to return to the list of threads. Now I right click on the thread and "open in another window" so the list of threads is always there.Rich Beckman
*Just curious, what browser/ISP software are you all using? I don't have the problem and I'm using IE5.
*Netscape 4.51Rich Beckman

it's happening because the pages are set to reload automatically every time you request it, and using 'back' to navigate circumvents the reload, so pages where you've just provided info (adding a messsage, signing in), can't be displayed.
will look for a workaround.

I've got Netscape also, and have been experiencing the same thing, and the pages on this site now take forever to load. Could the tool review banner/button have something to do with this?

billy,
I don't think the banner is slowing download too much... i suspect the modification to make the pages always grab a new version is putting a greater load on the server, since no one could use cached, or local pages, so i've removed that code from all the topic pages, and now only the breaktime main page, and all the subject pages (energy, about breaktime, business, etc.), will ever be fresh copies direct from our computer to yours.
this should eliminate the annoying 'data missing' errors for those of us addicted to navigating with the back button. downside: after posting a message, you'll need to hit 'reload' to see it appear on a page (topics will show up automatically on subject pages, but new messages in topics will need prompting).
while i can't check the download speed here (on our T1, everything is pretty fast, except microsoft.com), if anyone would like to investigate the performance cost of the banner image, just reload one of these pages with images turned off.

Shuting down the graphics does help my puny performa, and, here I was so proud of myself when I found the back button,so, what's next to keep my thimbleful of brain nimble?

*sysop,Thanks sean. I am a "carpenter" so most of this is over my head. Point and click....that's about the length of my computer vocabulary. And by the way, what happened to that article I submitted?Ed. Williams
*Wayne,I just found out that if you click on the Fine Homebuilding BREAKTIME discussion header at the top of the page you go straight back to the list of topics. No data missing message. It still seems to me that it is taking a little longer to load.Funny how a couple of extra seconds is worth bitching about. I think I get spoiled way to easy.Does anyone remember the typewriter?Antiques now.Ed. Williams

I keep getting a "Data Missing" window everytime I try to back page. I know it's not my home PC because it happens to me at my work PC. Has anyone else seen this?
