My son has a 1810 colonial with wood shavings in the attic for insulation. He wants to remove them, but they too quickly fill up the shop vac. Any suggestions short of bagging them and throwing them out the gable vents? davidd57

1) Rent/borrow a shop vacuum system, leave it on the ground and run the hose up to where you're working.
2) Hire one of those furnace vent vacuuming companies to come and vacuum out the attic for you.

Thanks--I'll pass suggestions along. Davidd57
A shovel and contractor garbage bags. YOu can throw thoise 3 mil bags out the gable window and not really worry about them busting open specially if yu throw them ontop of each other.
PS..Cant believe it didnt attract termites. Was it cedar chips?

Thanks, Andy. Termites. . .generally are not a problem in Vermont, although word has it that they have started to arrive within the past decade. Davidd57
It takes a big thorax to survive the frost and freeze of the northern reaches of the US. I don't think the Vermont area could ever support Termites unless they are imported to be used for a healing soup and then released into the wild... Oh yes that was New York State wasn't it.. (the snake fish)
Seriously bugs don't weather well up here. Skeeters but not many others. A dash of Malathon wipes out the skeeters. You have termites down your way Andy?
