“dead man” in a foundation – not Hoffa!
No, it is not about Hoffa!
Does anyone out there have a diagram of a “dead man” in a concrete foundation for a house on a slight slope? My engineer was a bit stingy with the description – nothing more than a 4′ wide by 36″ x 36″. I am having a little trouble picturing the way it is supposed to be formed.
Thanks for any input.

I have worked commerical construction for 32 years--- the dead men we form and pour--- same function
they hold back a wall from moving-- i have poured them 6 feet wide 6 feet all and 100 feet long--- they have to have something that goes from the wall that you do not want to move to the dead man. some people use rebar -- it has to be inbedded into the dead man and then the other end embedded into the concret in your wall that you are trying to prevent moving.
this may not help you but large or small-- dead men have the same function-- that is to prevent movement. be sure to put your dead man in vigin soil so it does not move.
Good luck
