Howdy all,
Just recently replaced a bedroom window with a french door and would like to build a deck/landing just outside. The sill of the door sits on the subfloor. The location of the ledger would span two foundation vents, covering most of their respective openings (maybe leaving a couple inches exposed). It is a 1008 sq. ft. house with a stem wall foundation. I was planning on securing the ledger to the rim joist before I noticed the location of the vents. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for the input.

Can you bore holes in the leger to vent the basement?
...ah yes, I suppose I could. It isn't a basement but simply the crawlspace. That is an excellent suggestion, however.
Thanks!
instead of bolting a ledger board, that will cover the vents, why not add a couple more posts, and make the entire deck free standing. That way the "ledger" could be kept off the house , and it would become a beam, instead...?
