Deck rails into concrete hidden system
I have a concrete patio job upcoming and would like some feedback. Patio is planned to have a stone veneer in mortar next summer therefor rails go on first. No biggie I can set them high and trim post next summer. H.O. wants to use composite (prob. trex) material for the rail system. I usually work with wood i.e. cedar/pt. I don’t do much interface with concrete and I have some concerns. I have never used composite for stuctrual (I dont want to use it at all ). H.O. found Trex website with 4×4 posts and wants me to use them. Trex says alot of stuff but what do you all think about the 4×4’s.
I am considering- setting allthread into the concrete and predrill (how deep? 2/3?) posts epoxy, and insert. and or angled brackets lagged into concrete and recessed into post and hidden with trimmed 1x overtop.
Do they sell a post anchor that would work with this application? Is it easily hidden?

The Trex I've seen is designed to slip over a 4X4 wood post. I didn't realize they made a solid posts, but a quick look at their website confirms they do.
I think you're best bet is to call the manufacturer to see if/how this can be done. You don't want to risk a lawsuit for improperly installing something as important as deck railing, or void the warranty for that matter.
