I need to figure out how to delete old attachments, I have one file that is taking up to much space and I have met my allowable allotment. So How?
I tried our fearless leader and here was his response…
You’re asking me? Man, they only let me touch a computer because no one
could stand the sound of my manual typewriter. I’m afraid the best I can do
is forward your email to Mark Coleman, the SYSOP, who of course is on
vacation this week. If you need a faster answer, post a query on Breaktime,
or ask Luka. If you do so, feel free to poke fun at my lame computer
skills.
Sorry,
Andy
So prove you’re smarter then Andy E, and maybe Taunton can have a new editor 😉

just readimg some posts where people can't post
also remeber about year back where individuals are not suppose to have limits, overall site limit. this was a change prospero made.

Thanks, there has to be a way to delete more then one at a time, what a pain.
anyway, it works, so thanks again
I'm afraid I don't know of any way to delete a bunch at once. Unless they are all in the same post.
You do have to choose to edit a post, then "manage attachments".
But, rather than searching through all your old posts to find your attachments, you can find the whole list at once.
Make a new post.
Open the attachments box.
Instead of uploading a new attachment, click the "click here to find your old attachments" link.
You'll get a list of all the attachments you have made. Along with the size of every one of them. Click on one, and you will be taken to the post that the file is in. You can then edit the post, manage, and delete the attachment.

well screw it, I just deleted over half of my damn files and it still saying
Over limit, overlimit.
Prospero sucks
It's a system problem. You're not even supposed to have a personal limit anymore. You can't upload pictures to Taunton until they fix it, but if there's some other web server you can put them on, you can still do the thing where you include the picture directly in the message.
One of the people at Cooks Talk was unable to post a picture a little while ago and another person got around it by including it in a message.
Sounds like you'll have to wait for Mark to get back.
Unless Andy, Brian, or Jimmy the Kidd wants to get ahold of prospero about this.

ah well.
such is life.
edit, shame too, I got some pictures today of some real "speacial" buildings I wanted to post... these are true works of a master hack.

E-mail them to me and I'll put them on for you if I can..........

Thanks for the offer, but they can wait, unless you're just really interested in seeing them.
One is even a "deck" if you can call it that lol.
well I'm sending you the pictures of the deck, I think you will either be laughing or crying, let me know which.
You have mail.
Edited 10/16/2003 12:18:50 AM ET by CAG
I'm crying.......Someone is going to get hurt if they go out on that deck.
They a using 8" hangers for 6" joists
Posts are out of plumb
balusters are out of plumb
But the scariest thing is there is no beam between the posts to support all the joists. The only thing holding up that deck is the shear strength of the 4 nails in each post.
It looks like a 5' x 8' deck. For the sake of keeping this landlord from expensive litigation due to pain and suffering or even death of one of her tenants I would recommend you turn in the project address in to the building department.
Then when she has to tear it down and do it right you could give her a bid of....
$25. per foot- 40sq.ft. x $25 = $1000 + 18' of rail= $360 = permits and fees.
Here are you pictures for others to see............Really Sad!
ooooooooopppppppps!
I got the same message.... I have exceeded my document space? What a bunch a crop. Sorry Neil, Guess we'll have to wait for Prospero to come back from vacation, or whoever else is running this show????????????????????

For the sake of keeping this landlord from expensive litigation due to pain and suffering or even death of one of her tenants I would recommend you turn in the project address in to the building department.
I tried, I called the building department twice and spoke with an inspector that was reviewing one of our jobs, nothing was done.
I'm more concerned about the person that would be hurt then the owner lady, she can rot for all I care, she is not a nice person. The really ironic thing, that deck is coming off the apartment managers unit. I warned her also, she seems unconcerned no matter how much I insisted it was a dangerous. I spoke with the owner of the complex when I saw her in the office one day, she seems to think I'm just trying to get them to hire me to do it, I told her I could give a hoot who does it, but it just ain't right, it's going to come down.
Do you have a lawyer-friend (no, you don't have to admit it). Send him/her pictures of the deck along with a note of who you talked with and when, and have him hold it until something goes bad, then you can nail her (figuratrively speaking, of course).
Do it right, or do it twice.
I get the idea he doesn't want to nail her figure....
Excellence is its own reward!
eewwhhhhhhhhh!
nope no laywer friends.
I guess I could call the new owners, the complex is being sold and Nov. 1 it's under new management.
I'll post the pictures when I can, but as you can probably get from Bob's message, it isn't pretty.

hunh?
Ok, since yesterday, I have attached exactly zero files. Go back up and look at what the program said was available yesterday.
Now, here is what it says today...
allocation: 2000000KB (1954MB)
Available:
693730KB (678MB)
You can upload a file of up to 3072KB (3MB).

Quite a change, for having made no changes at all....
And I can pretty much guarantee that I do not have over 1200 megs of attachments on here.

I think that is an agregate number for all the users.
Remember there was a per users limit that everyone complainted about. I think that they did a "simple fix" by making one big pool of upload space.
That makes sense.
Still, here is what it looked like yesterday...

allocation: 109100010KB (106543MB)

I forgot to mention earlier... Yeah, it still seems to be screwy, but hey, it works now !!!!!

yeah, he may be on the nut case list, but I got this feeling if that tele number gets around here very far, that guys going to feel like his nuts are in a vise ;)
Same for me, no idea what's going on, but here are two of a building I just love to drive by, I'll post the deck picks later tonight.
Look at #25 first, then look at the other and see what this beauty sits next too.
Don't make fun of that building - I've parked vehicles and tractors in sheds a lot like that.
Heck, if they turn water they're worth something..................(-:I'm not going to vacuum 'til Sears makes one you can ride on. [Roseanne Barr]
yeah but did they look that way before you tried to put the tractor in, or after?
Sorry Neil, I was trying to copy/paste your pictures and that didn't work either so I called the guy at Prospero and he is looking into it."Rather be a hammer than a nail"
Bob
No problem, I'm going to go post them in the pic folder.
Now that I can again.
I don't get the all fuyll message but I can't post pictures. Tried earlier and again just now. It grinds away without accepting it..
Excellence is its own reward!
I had the same thing happen yesterday when I tried to post a picture of a G.I. Joe doll for one of my buds here. Fortunately, the image was stored elsewhere on the web and I was able to provide a link. :-)>
Actually - all kidding aside (yea right) - I was able to post a picture yesterday after I deleted the monster sized penguin dope slap animated .gif file I had attached to one of my threads. I did have to close Breaktime down and re-launch it though before Prospero would let me post the picture I was actually trying to upload.

I tried all that, logging out, logging back in, deleted several large files, nothing is working, guess I'll have to wait until the sysop gets back.
