Hello – I’m a HO and currently contracted out the build of my house. The guys (who were highly recommended) completed the Delta Membrane installation. I was there when they started and they seemed to know what they were doing (based on Delta Membrane’s website installation instructions), so I left. When I returned everything was done and at first glance it appeared to be a good job. As you got closer though, there was noticeable gaps between the Delta and the poured foundation walls (for reference the sprayed tar on the foundation, then applied the Delta to that). In a number of areas it looks like they used to much Delta, or fastened it incorrectly b/c it’s “wavy” or “bubbly” in a number of areas, and at it’s worse I would say it creates a 5 – 6″ gap if you pulled it out – that’s how much slack there is. It’s not that these are small (i.e. narrow) spaces – some are about 6′ wide. The corners look pretty good, it’s the long runs that are the big problem. This contradicts the installation instructions, but i wanted to check with you guys to get your thoughts. Is this acceptable? I’m scheduled to backfill tomorrow, so if this is an issue Iwould like it resolved prior to that. Also, would there be an issue if they did come to fix it and they had to take some areas apart, then reapply the membrane since there is going to be pentrations in the tar and foundation from applying the previous fasteners? Should this be an issue? If this is in fact ok – how does the Delta work effectively vs. just getting a house tarred given that it isn’t even doing what it’s designed to do (i.e. the dimple’s allow the water to travel, etc.), but I thought the membrane had to be tight to the foundation.
Thanks again guys for your help!
