I’m in the market for a miter saw stand with wheels for my DeWalt DW708. At this point, the Ridgid and the Delta look good. So does the Rousseau, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the extra money. I haven’t seen either one in person; Home Depot carries the Ridgid, but they never have one on display, and I haven’t found a local distributor for the Delta. Therefore, I’ll likely be buying it online, sight unseen; not crazy about doing it this way, but what can I do? Does anyone have experience with either of these (or another they think is better) they’d like to share? Thanks.

I put a Dewalt mitersaw on a DeltaKickstand a few years back and have dragged that thing up stairs and down driveways and rough terrain and have had no problems with it.
It's likable because the extension rollers fold in and out easily as well as adjusts quick. It sits stable even on uneven ground.
The leg folddown feature is nice in that one can fold the wheel end legs up under the table and roll it around like a wheelbarrow. In that configuration the open legs can be put in the truck bed and the wheel end lifted easily to slide in for quick loading.
The wheels are large enough for easy maneuverability. I'd buy another if needed.
My Rigid stand is still sitting in it's box waiting for a slow day so I can't say yea or nay.

I,ve got the Ridgid and everything Rez said about the Delta describes the Ridgid. I could have cut and pasted his comments changing out Delta to Ridgid.
Too bad they aren't giving them away anymore but they're still a good stand even at $200.
It does seem a little heavy, tho. Don't know if the Delta is heavy or not.

Thanks, Rez and Dan019. Since I am currently recovering from a herniated disk in my neck, weight of my tools has recently become a larger issue for me. The Delta 50-155 and Ridgid MS-UV are listed at 66 and 78 lbs respectively. A few months ago, I wouldn't have thought about 12 lbs; now it's more significant.
I found a review of miter saw stands in the 10/2002 issue of Workbench. They had the Ridgid #1 and the Delta #2, mostly, I think, because the Ridgid took just a few minutes to set up out of the box, while it took them two hours to assemble the Delta. I've heard reports that the bolts supplied with the Delta are garbage, with many breaking during assembly. I own a few other Delta tools (8" grinder, drill press and scoll saw) and I'm happy with the quality of them. I don't own any Ridgid power tools at this point. The Delta stand goes for $230.00, the Ridgid for $199.00, which isn't a big enough difference for me to take the Ridgid over the Delta.
I just wish I could get my hands on one of each to really see what I'll be buying...

I have had the Delta for ~10 years. Overall I have been very pleased with the tool, and it is still in regular use today. I have had four different CMS/SCMS on it, with few problems attaching different saws (replace MDF inserts and custom outfeed tables with each new saw). Heavy metal frame also allowed for coping saw hook, cord wraps, power strip, etc. to be mounted/welded directly to frame. Poly mag wheels on mine can get spongy if the stand has been in the sun, but no durability issues from my end. If you have back/neck problems, I would not consider loading/unloading this thing from the truck without a ramp to roll down. The stand and saw are heavy and cumbersome to lift by yourself. If you have a local Delta supplier, check there-the one here has had one on display for years.
I bought the Ridgid, couldn't get it at the fire sale price so I had to settle for the original price of $200. Still worth it, I have my Bosch 3315 (10" SCMS) mounted to it. It was a bit of trial and error finding the right place to mount it and drill holes (predrilled holes only fit Ridgid saws) but once on there, it's OK. I can fold it up and stuff it in a corner if I'm not using it, and it's not a lot of effort to unfold and start cutting. Rolls really nicely too.
I have no experience with the Delta, but my other choice would have been a Trojan, if the local HD didn't just get a stack of new stands in when I was actively shopping for one.

Well, I got the Delta. I got it from Amazon for $200.00. The box was somewhat damaged upon delivery, but not to the degree that I've heard others describe, with nothing missing. I'd also heard horror stories about the quality of the hardware; while it's certainly not top-shelf, it's adequate, and nothing broke. It is not the simplest thing to assemble, especially mounting my DW708. I had to cut about 5" off of one of the extruded aluminum mounting plates so the saw could be mounted closer to the right side of the stand, which would leave enough room for the extension table. I'll probably cut the other one down also; no purpose in having it stick out as far as it does. The whole assembly process probably took me over 2.5 hours, and there are still some changes I'd like to make. It seems like a good unit, though.
One unforseen problem is my basement doorway is about 28" wide; the saw needs to be turned to a 45-degree angle to fit, and even then, it's tight. Duh...
