In the planning stages for a new home in the next few years. I have been described by those that know and love me as a “neatnik”, Anal-retentive, etc. That said, I am a neat freak when it comes to my home.
SO as I’m figuirng what will work and what won’t, deciding on materials, etc I’ve begun to think about design factors that would make the home easier to keep clean. So far, I’ve come up with a spacious mudroom, central vac, solid surface counters and vanities, and tiled bathrooms with sanitary base tile and tile floor.
What other ideas, innovations, things that get overlooked have you guys come across that make it easier to keep a home clean?? (Aside from a maid named Hilda)
I have a 100 lb lab that sheds A LOT, so carpet is mostly out of the question. I also have two toddlers, so materials should be durable. Just to give some perspective on my approach thus far.
