I’m about to begin the construction of a
new house in Seattle and would like to
include some exterior receptical for
deliveries (UPS Fed-ex etc.) even
perhaps groceries and other delivery
services. The goal would be to have the
convienience without the obligation of
being at home to receive these items.
I’m unsure of the level of security this
requires and the volume that it would
need to possess. I wonder about multipe
deliveries in a single day. Has anyone
either designed a solution to this or
lived in a house with an exist

I've thought of this too. Problem is, something that is easy for a new or substitute route guy to find and figure out. Depends on the amount of shipping in you do, and the package sizes. A good amount of stuff comes to my house for my business, and I'm not there all too often. I know my regular UPS guy pretty well, he knows where I keep a spare house key, he'll open it up, put the boxes in, and put the key back. You can't trust most like that, though, plus I'm sure it's not exactly within company policy.
Maybe a lockbox outside, kinda like a big mailbox or two. Always unlocked, like an bus station locker, until he puts in a package, and flips the lock. Multiple boxes for multiple deliveries. My problem is, I may get two to four deliveries in a single day, anywhere from a couple of overnight envelopes, to a cargo van full. Yep, did that once....two ups trucks here at 9am, fully unloaded at my house. :)
Hmmm, maybe I'll just park a few ragged-out vans in my drive, and leave the doors unlocked....

go back in time to the days of the milk shute. Or check out the ingenius ways car repair shops make up a key drop. Adjust the size to fit your needs.
Or just put on a porch, screen it to suggest security, and don't stop at the bar on the way home. best of luck.
