I have been working on a call back that has me stumped. I remodeled a house and the plumber caulked down a cast iron vanity lav with the water cleanup adhesive caulk and it lasted no time. I did my plumber a favor and redid the whole thing again and it has happened again. I suspect that maybe the cast iron has contaminates in the iron that is causing the caulk to deteriorate. It just turns to slime. If anyone can steer me into the right direction on this I would appreciate it. The original caulk was the one furnished with the lav.
Sincerely,
L. Siders

Why not bed the sink in Plumbers Putty instead?
Get the "white/non hardening" type and have at it.
Might fix it.
