I am considering a reconditioned 18 volt Dewalt angle drill for x-mas as Makita does not offer a decent unit that would work with the other 14.4v tools I have in their line…
I was wondering how many of you are on the Dewalt 18 volt system and what tools you have and what you think of them?
I chose the 14.4 Makita drill and Impact combo over the Dewalt and while I am impressed with the quality of the Makita tools (I have a trim saw, 2 drills and an Impact driver) I am dissapointed that they do not offer anything else in this platform, such as a cordless rt angle drill, sawzall, drywall cutout tool, ect. and to move up to Makita’s 18 volt tools would mean a different charger.

Many will cuss the 18v Dewalt, but they are durable. Having used both Dewalt drills and Makita side by side for a half dozen years it seems that most Makitas are somewhat lighter with better motors and batteries, while the Dewalts are more durable.
I'd probably own all Makita cordless tools, but like you said they don't have as many options, so I have an 18v Dewalt drill, angle drill, light, circ saw and have used the sawzall and jigsaw with no complaints for what they are for.
The double charger from Dewalt was the best thing I've bought. It's small enough to run off an inexpensive 12v/110v converter and provides about as many charged batteries as I normally use in general construction.
