Dewalt 18v drill #DC925VA – Strange nois
Today I got my new Dewalt 18v drill from an online tool company. I charged up one battery and gave the drill a few spins. When I let go of the trigger I could hear a strange click noise as soon as the motor stopped. I was surprised at how easily the noise could be heard. I think it’s some kind of braking mechanism inside. I’d like to hear from any of you guys who have a Dewalt 18v drill and if your drill has the same click noise as soon as the motor stops.

I got the same feeling from my recently purchased 18V Ridgid Lion (Lithium Ion - I am coining the term Lion for all future generations - perhaps I should enter this into Wikipedia) drill. The bang sounds scary, because I am not used to it. Perhaps this is a new technology that will be in all drills. I don't like the idea that the drill is stopping by hitting some kind of wall. This is one of those improvements that may prove in a few years to be a bad idea.
i have a dewalt i bought at lowes for 50.00 cause some guy brought it back cause it made noise. i stood there and mess with 3 others on display and they all made the same noise.
i've used it for 4 years now,it's been a pretty good drill. you will notice it makes the most noise in 3rd gear,in 1st you hardly notice it. it's part of the brake system i guess. larry
