I have a Dewalt 734 thickness planer with about 20-30 hrs on it. Ihave used it primarily to mill cedar 4x4s to a thickness my table saw can handle to make 1″ slabs for various projects. This material is very clear and i cut out all knots that are visible resulting in stock pieces ranging from a foot to 3 feet in length. After sitting idle for a few months(I had used all my pre-milled material up) i set up to repeat this process. The problem: the pieces as i fed them “cocked” as they went into the planer and wouldn’t catch and feed until I pushed them back flush to the infeed table and more often than not would stick.(i.e. would not feed) I don’t recall this happening before and I planed quite a bit of material. The care i took in removing knots makes me unwilling to believe that my blades are already dull. I am setting the removal rate at around 1/16″ and have never had any problems with this tool before. One other note: the rollers seemed to be putting quite a dent in the material; almost as if the rollers were lower than they should be for proper planing. This tool has been transported twice and great care was taken to make sure no damage or hard drops occured. Please help…Christmas is coming and Santa needs his workshop up and running!

Thaks a bunch for the help; it sounds as though I may suffer from the same hard headedness you do. I just KNOW that all is well with blades , tables and all but won't try looking at them to verify. Like you I saved forever to get something that I really didn't need but had always wanted. Oh and really know nothing about!! thanks again.

If you're sure your knives are sharp, try waxing your tables & cleaning the infeed roller with turpentine or mineral spirits. I've got the older two-knife version DeWalt. I have to clean the infeed roller more frequently than I would have thought necessary.
if you have dewalt with 30 hrs on the blades, you win a prize. they have a real bad problem dulling. i bought that planer and in less than 30 minutes of planing oak the blades were noticablly dull.
i took it back,i couldn't afford 45.00 blades every 100 bd ft
the older i get ,
