Having a little problem with my 12″ saw, and it has limitations with the depth of cut. Saw a Dewalt 8″ sliding miter saw at my friendly tool shop (and at Lowes). Cross cuts almost 12″ vs about 6″ for the current saw. Price is almost in my budget … about $375 … don’t really have a budget for tools, but I could maybe force myself to buy it anyway.
Anyone have experience with it? Based on my good history with the dewalt 12″, I am tempted.
I’m sorry, I thought you wanted it done the right way.

Well, it's a question of want, not need. Just doing some window shopping.

I have the Dewalt 8 1/2 slider. It's a great saw. The only drawback is the single compound miter (only tilts to one side). Pain in the butt.
I have a 12" dbl cmpd miter which is great but too much saw. Seemed like a good idea at the time but I rarely need that much.Kinda off topic but I just put a Tenryu "Silencer" blade on the 8 1/2. Sweet blade, and as it says, cuts completely silent. For now.
