I have had a DeWalt portable table saw to use on site. My problem has been I have to upend the saw every day to clean the worm drive that raises and lowers the blade or the gears get clogged with saw dust so that it is almost impossible to turn the crank. I talked to the service center here but they acted like they didn’t know what I was talking about. Does any one know of a solution, shroud or other aftermarket or work around?

I have the same saw, and haven't had that much of a problem with the height adjustment. It may be because I always have an automatic on-off shop vac hooked to the discharge whenever I'm doing any kind of heavy sawing. The mechanism does seem to crank a little hard though I must admit. I usually come up with my own funky solution in these cases and your suggestion of some sort of shroud sounds like you're on the right track. Sometimes the simplest things like a plastic bag work great. Maybe try a dry lube along with it.
I lube every time I change blades and use a vac with it as much as possible

I have an older DW744 and find raising the blade a bit stiff, but not bad enough that I want to clean it.
My biggest beef with the 744 is the blade not returning parallel with the fence after cutting at 45 deg. A stiff rear pivot holds the motor from returning completely upright and the work wants to pull away from the fence on the next cut. Slamming it back to zero a couple of times straightens the blade and has become habit.
The dust port constantly plugs up and I get the occasional face full of sawdust but other than that I can`t complain.
I was forever adjusting the fence till I figured out the slamming the blade back to zero trick. Now I never need to adjust the fence, works perfect.
I may try some Dri-Cote on the rear pivot, it might loosen up the vertical gears for you too.
