back in Oct., Heavy Duty Tools ran a special on the dewalt 318, 3 base router kit, to tie in with dewalt’s $50 rebate. Mark sent the kit and paperwork right away, and i sent the rebate stuff right away. after about 6 weeks, i got a postcard from dewalt telling me that my rebate claim had been denied because of “improper product description” or some such language that was not self explanatory.
i immediately resent the entire package, certified mail, with a letter demanding the rebate (this time on my law office letterhead) and started emailing Mark for help. Yesterday, some bozo from Dewalt left a message with a secretary that my rebate was coming, but they had gotten a huge number of claims and were afraid of fraudulent claims, so they were just denying the claims.
apparently, dewalt promotes products with rebate products, but does not really expect any sales. anyone else having the same problem?

How funny...I JUST left a post in regard to jig saws. I mentioned in the post about a thread I started a month or so ago about DW service.
Wish I could find it in the archives but anywho...what I'd written was basically the same thing you're saying. After writing to the DW rep probably a half a dozen times and showing him that I'd been posting his responses in BT all I STILL kept getting was a seriously lame run-a-round non answer answer!
Obviously DW is on their way out.Stoopid stoopid stoopid!! What a way to destroy a company. All they have going for them atthis point is the color yellow...it means "beware" btw.
Never again!!! DeWalt sucks!!! Only thing DW I'll ever buy again are their batteries until my cordless DW tools die.
Be well

That's a shifty but not unheard of trick with rebates- send the customer a card saying that the rebate does not qualify because of some vague paperwork problem. Then, when the customer follows up with a call or letter, say "oops, looks like everything's ok after all". Wait another 6 weeks, then send payment.
I had a rebate for a makita impact driver- said processing for 5 weeks or so. Then, on the advice of someone here, I sent the rebate company an email demanding my impact driver. 3 days later, it was on my doorstep. The funny part is, I still get emails from them (6 months later) saying that my rebate is still processing, but should ship soon.

"so it goes"
I'd bought the DW618B3 3 Base Router Kit before Xmas. Sent in paperwork for the promised $50 rebate on 12/27.
Though they said allow 10-12 weeks for processing I checked status online.
And found they denied rebate, saying the UPC was for the DW618PK.
Nope, it wasn't and I've got copies of it and all paperwork to prove it.
All they offered to do is write up a ticket to the "Support Group".
Support group contacts me and tells me to send in original receipt.
But all I've got is the copy, because they have the original.
Last 2 Xmas's I splurged on myself. Getting DW CMS and Table Saw, rebates worked fine then. Looks like they're trying to trim costs a bit so the execs can get some big bonuses.
Don't give up on it. They count on people forgetting or just giving up on it. I don't know what the rebate is for, but even if it was just for a free pencil I would keep at them just on princible.Peace,Caseyhttp://www.streets.org
mail in reb ates are are scam, we have at least 4 still "in the works", one is over a year old
they suck, and now i refuse to buy anything on the basis of a rebate
