I have a Milwaukee heavy duty drill with an angle attachment. It came with the angle attachment connected, but the job I need to do right now would be easier drilling straight on.
I followed the instructions for removing the chuck from the angle so I can connect it directly, but it won’t budge. I even tried striking the chuck removal tool with a mallet (as stated in the instructions), but no dice.
I already removed the left handed screw inside the chuck. I’ve been attempting to turn the chuck counter clockwise (as instructed). Is something wrong or do I just need to apply more force?
I don’t want to break it – any tips?

HHMM let's see----- learn from others mistakes
I have taken off 3 without breaking them, but I have broken 5 different ones.
It's a tapered fit, depending on how old it is & what condition, it could be fused with rust.
I have found crank shaft puller type tools work best.
& a couple of good raps with the hammer to break that seal + soaking it in as much penetrating oil as possible.
Still won't budge?
Small torch on head to expand the chuck----- be carefull the gear drives don't like too much heat.

lol
Had a bunch of old drills I was salvaging to make a few good ones out of.“It so happens that everything that is stupid is not unconstitutional.†—Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia
What Bill said. In addition, if and when you get it off, before you out it back, rub plain old white chalk on the shaft. It does two things and I don't know how or why but, it keeps it from freezing on and it keeps drill press chucks from constantly falling off.
Works on any morse taper, lathes have the same problems.

I learned it from an OLD WWII machinest. He saved my bacon, when I was about to shoot a drill press. Drilling thousands of holes a week in pipeorgan windchests and the Stata-frackin-muther chucker kept falling out and trashing the toe boards with errant gouges...that fixed her right up.

I had a Bosch that would always clog up, no matter what...I even cut the chute back shorter but still..nada.
I gave it to a past customer when I found a DW at a pawn shop brandy new like...maybe used once. It is flawless..thats about all I know 'cept all the big time timber framers and log stackers use Makita.
