direct vent FP through offset fire wall?
Townhome has a 8 foot offset from the adjacent townhome. Double core firewall extends entire length of offset. Can an exhaust for a direct vent fireplace be pushed through this sidewall?
I’ve searched but have not come up with an answer yet- not just code but true safety as well.

Wouldn't you be pushing the vent into the other townhome?
Dan, I thinking it is stepped or offset wall. He is going to end up outside, I think. The question(s) seems to be penetrating a rated wall assembly and (my guess) proximety of the vent windows, doors, etc, of both units.
Yeah, and I'm guessing it would give a code guy conniptions.

That's correct- the rear wall of one house is bumped out 8 ft from the other. The vent would be to the exterior, but since the firewall is run the whole length of both houses, not just the areas where they adjoin, it would be through the firewall.
You're required to have a firewall where the two structures are closer than X feet to each other. If X were 5 feet then you could probably get away with a flue penetration in the outermost 3 feet. But I'm guessing that X is more like 10 feet and you're SOL.
