Alright here’s the scenario. Redoing a bathroom, concrete slab floor. There is some very old cutback on about 20% of it.
I am planning on using Ditra anyways for a couple reasons. Floor not dead flat, some small cracks in the slab, a patched area where the plumbing lines were relocated, etc.
Do I need to remove the cutback? If so, how? I would really rather not.
Thanks in advance.

I dunno if U "have to" ... but I would.
on concrete ... scraper ... power scraper ... or concrete grinder.
a rental grinder would help flatten the floor too.
I'm talking about the big, walk behind grinder ... like a floor sander ... has 3 grinding blocks on the bottom that are held in by wood wedges. Hose it down as U go them mop it all up. Not a bad days work at all.
Great for knocking down ridges around expansion joints.

You can cover the cutback with some special compound. I can't remember the name of the stuff, something like plani-patch, comes dry, mix it up like pancake batter, spread it on and let it dry. They have this stuff at tile stores. OK, just looked it up. Mapei makes it, and it is called planipatch. Try http://www.mapei.com and check 'er out.
