What exactly is the rubber trowel tool mentioned in earlier Dmix threads?
I mean size, what’s it look like, how are the edges?
Thanks

Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

Thanks for the reply. I was now able to hunt it down since I stink when using metal tools on a smooth final topcoat.
Have you ever used one?

Hey Rez,
I haven't but I can see its application. I'm going to order one when my next next remodel or room addition that requires allot of drywall comes my way. Presently for an orange peel finish I roll thinned jc and smooth it with a 6" knife. It comes out very nice. Also on the next drywall project I'm going to give the D-mix a whirl.
If you get one let me know how it goes.

Checked the local bigboxes and tho they handled some texmaster products they didn't have the magic trowel.
Checked a SherwinWillliams and they had one item of the magic trowel which was an 18incher so I got it.
Always do textured coverings cause of the ease. Gotta see if this will help produce a smooth finish.

you can get a three-piece set (22" blade, 12" blade and handle) from amazon for $30 + S&H. just search for "Knockdown Knife Set".
for the others:

This is not Tool Crib, so evidently you do not get the $25 free shipping, It is from All Wall Equipment. Orders over $50 are free though.

If I had it to do over again I'd put the money toward good knives instead.
I mean any tool can work if you want to play with it long enough but this magic trowel thing leans too much to the gimmick side of things.
Or for the helplesshapless that using anything would be an improvement.
So, I played the role of a feckless dastard.
r u a feckless dastard?
Hey Rez,
Thanks for the review. Sorry it was on your dime. Seriously, I appreciate the feedback and look around in the forum for suggestions all the time. Today, I'll be checking the archives for a new skill saw.
