Saw a finisher make a 1'x 1' float to which he stapled visqueen to the face. The vis. was arranged in a pattern, crumple up sort of, and finished out maybe 3/4 thick. He shot the wall with bag texture then plopped this float randomly on it. Followed that knocking down with his knife. They 2 tone painted it and it looked pretty good.
However, maybe the finish you're talking about is fan pattern that overlaps itself. I would imagine you could do that when you knock it down.
Since i'm nowhere near Portland, maybe i don't have any idea what i'm talking about. That's a real possibility.
