Interior Design business calls last week and asked me to bid some custom, and decorative paint jobs for their shop. They were also thrilled that I had the “skill” to do finish carpentry/repairs as well.
So I agreed to meet and the Designer drove me to the jobs. Nice high end houses. The designer told me the shop gets 10% of my bid. I figured that was a good deal. Between then and putting in the first bid I got thinking. This is prime season, and Im slammed. I bent over to fit in one of the jobs because the designer needed one room done asap. So I decided that I couldnt get less then premium because I would lose what I could be making on other jobs, even though they were getting me work.
Instead, I added the 10% and upped my bid price by $5 per estimated hour. Got a call a few hours after faxing and the Designer said it looked fine, and when could I be there.
Dont be afraid of the money.

The calculator doesn't lie dude. But yer head will tell you all kinds of goofy azz stuff.
Good on ya.
It was a bit risky, but it worked. If they are going to make money on me, I figure I should make money on me.
On the other hand, they spec'd Pratt and Lambert, and I have to drive 40 miles to get it.
