I have been to Lowes and they don’t have it.

Maybe part of the reason is that Pro and Lowes are at opposite ends of the spectrum!

OK, now behave like a pro and answer the question...Karanjeff, A lot of us don't have the door in question or the book to look at. Can you scan and post a jpg or otherwise describe the door?It might be from a custom door shop, or -
It might be standard issue from a normal full service lumberyard. More and more of them have been put out of business, dumbing down the industry, by box stores like Lowes and HD where peole are looking for low prices instead of looking for quality, selection, and service, so we tend to develope an atitude against them.A couple of national door companies that have several door patterns that you might be able to google for are Simpson, and Morgan

Hey guys thanks for all your help!
I bought this book at Lowes and it is printed by Taunton Press who sponsors this website. lol
I thought most of the chatters in here were builders/renovators who came to know this site through their books as well as the magazines Taunton puts out.
The door in question was a fench with two sidelights that open with screen doors for air flow so you wouldn't have to buy a screen door for the french door.
Sorry about the pic but I do not have a scanner. If anyone knows a good door company here in southwestern Illinois or St. Louis Mo that could fabricate this option please let me know.
Sorry but I have all handmade furniture from Turkey, Australia, Vietnam, and Russia in my house and respect all people who build with their hands but a deal is a deal. Military pay does not give some of us people the option to go custom when I can run down the road and get some things of just as nice quality at a more affordable price.
Thanks again
karanjeff

I was just at Borders and happened to see the book.
The door on pg 73 is IIRC a single door with two functional side lites. Read: hinged.
The sidelites are screened to offer ventilation, and the operating main door is not to offer ease of use.
My guess is it's custom.
I had a French door similar to it made for me last year or so.

Like this sorta..............only single door instead of French.
The outside shot shows the same door from.........outside! Just above my truck cap.
Full screen with supports that line up with the mullions on the door.
The door opens in and goes to nowhere.

That is exactly what I am looking for!
Tell me all about it. Prices dimensions I have 2 eight foot sliders that need replacing.
You are my hero!
From my experience in the door biz, a hinged sidelite is a comon config in two places in the world: Singapore and Canada.
Nobody in the US is doing it.
So, my suggestion is that you call some door shops in places like Toronto and Vancouver.
Gene,
I'm thinking Marvin would do that, no?

I had that door custom made.
It was a bit undersized on height, if I remember it had two 24" panels and the sidelites were 10' or so. The small sidelites can be a little problematic due to the geometry. The need to be made a little smaller and heavy bevel to close.
That door cost close to $10,000.00. Solid Cherry, insulated glass + install and hardware.
I got greased abit on the $ but the client wanted it and was ok with the price.
Hope that helps.
Any good fabrication shop should be able to make what you want. This guy is not a door and window maker, more of a custom fabricater of things made of wood.
