Anybody know a source for pre-made flashing pans for ext. door sills?
A recent project has a couple of french doors totally exposed to the weather, and, in spite of all my caulking and flashing efforts, I’m still getting some moisture showing up on the subfloor near one or both corners after wind & rain. I flashed sides top & bottom with Moistop and layed a couple of fat beads of urethane caulk beneath the threshold and behind all the ext. moldings. The head is flashed with metal and completely sealed. I suspect the water is entering at the jamb/door intersection at the hinge side(s). These are Therma-Tru fiberglass doors, and I have done everything precisely per the instructions (reading them thoroughly before beginning of course).
I’m thinking maybe these doors are just not water-tight and may need a metal flashing pan installed beneath the threshold to channel any wind-blown water back outside. Can someone suggest a source for these, or is it best to try to make my own on the jobsite?
I have always (strongly) suggested to my clients that ext. doors need to be protected somewhat from the elements, but sometimes it just doesn’t take.

Don't suggest - insist! Right now I am doing two door repairs where the previous contractor did not install door pans. The house gets a lot of wind driven rain and has the type of screen doors you have. What a mess!
Your local roofing supplier should be able to provide them. I have never seen these as stock items, usually made to order. Many of the big boy suppliers around here have fabrication shops. It takes a couple of days.
Go to http://www.jambsill.com & see where they have a dealer near you.
