A band saw is my next planned purchase. My intended use will be primarily resawing. Coincidentily, my youngest son is into light metal fabrication and is already eyeballing the yet-to-be-purchased band saw. I don’t want to discourage the imagination of the youthful.
Aside from the blades and speeds, what other things should be considered when purchasing and/or using a band saw for these very different materials? Will one brand stand out over another considering this use? (Or phrased differently, do the product reviews for wood usage only pertain more or less?) Or is it truthfully a bad idea?
TIA

If you do go this route, one consideration will be preventing sparks from the metal work from igniting the saw dust.
Yes, I have wondered about the sparks finding the sawdust especially that which gets packed into the recesses of the machine. Since the blades will be changed there is an opportunity to inspect/clean that accumulation. Thanks for the reminder.

i have been searching the web and have found bad reviews of
grizzley and delta.
14" bandsaw will resaw 6 inch tall (standing).
1 hp motor is better for resawing than 3/4
non enclosed motor is easier to install and adjust.
I'm thinking, for my limited uses, of buying a delta or a jet locally
If it sets up w/ the problems i've read about...
vibration,.
wheels out of plane,.
etc,.
it will be easier to return it locally.
The bad reviews of the Delta are for the current crop of Asian saws. I have a Delta 14" saw that is about 15 yrs old, made in USA, and it works very well.
