Do double ovens require 8/3 or can I use 10/3? I have run the 10/3 already but now I wonder…

Sample of one: The Subzero/Wolf double oven is 50 amps.
Depends on the oven, but they are a minimum of 8/3.
doubt it.

GE Monarch Doubles were 30A the wire out the back of the unit looked like 12 gage. (20A) I had 8/3 pulled for an earlier oven and downsized the breaker to 30A.
"Doubles were 30A the wire out the back of the unit looked like 12 gage. (20A)"Wire size on appliacnes have absolutley nothing to do with the supply of the feeder that is needed.Appliance often use special high temparture insulation and can carry more current. And they are short so voltage drop is not an issule. And they are tested under completely different rules..

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
And then there's that whole upsize it one gauge on the "more than 3 hours on" thing you once mentioned in another thread.
I am probably remembering it wrong, but that thread was about a combo micro and oven unit.
I think the comination was a 30A breaker, 8 AWG wire when the HO wanted to use 10 AWG.
The requirement is that a circuit can only be loaded to 80% of rating for continous (over 3 hrs) loads..

Yea, that's the thing - you so smart ;-)
Thanks Bill, I assumed something like that was the case. No way would I under size the feed to a oven.
Had the numbers run on a 4 burner stovetop insert with no oven and it came up needing 8.
So I'm taking odds a double oven won't do 10.
You'll need to post the data on the nameplate for someone to give you a specific.
Cheers
I never had a problem with character,
people've been telling me I was one ever since I was a kid.
10/3 will work if you only use one oven at a time and no higher than 300 degrees...
I don't Know what I am doing
But
I am VERY good at it!!
finally ...
some useful information I can use!
Thanks Buddy.

Funny thing...
Ovens have a plate that tell you their electric requirements.
Read it.
